Volunteer

We have now filled most of our volunteer roles for Whare Flat folk Festival 25/26. The committee would like to thank everyone who is stepping up to help make the festival successful and enjoyable for all. We're looking forward to working with you. We have made a few changes to volunteering arrangements and hope that the following clarifies these. 

The festival is implementing a new volunteer discounted ticket structure (or "site fee for volunteers") starting this year. This change is driven by a number of factors, including rising costs associated with running the festival and the desire to create a more equitable approach to contribution across all roles. This initiative is also being introduced ahead of a broader review of the festival operations.

Earlier this year, we requested feedback from Heads of Departments (HoDs) regarding their teams' workloads. Based on that information, and mirroring approaches used by other New Zealand festivals, we are introducing a site fee for certain roles.

Roles that are typically easier to fill, allow for flexible scheduling around main events, and are located within or near the marquee (allowing volunteers to still enjoy concerts) will now be subject to a $100 site fee this year. Harder-to-fill roles or those requiring longer hours will still have the opportunity for free entry.
