There are essentially three ways of becoming involved in the festival: being a guest artist
(go here to apply), being a festival volunteer or being an audience member sharing your talents in blackboard concerts and the like, and occasional volunteer duties.
From time to time we may require volunteers for an hour or so for food preparation or gate duties, so let us know when you register or arrive that you might wish to put your hand up.
The Whare Flat Folk Festival is run entirely by a volunteer crew. We are always looking for skilled helpers but we don't just take all-comers. The festival crew is a team with a sense of ownership of the festival, many have years of experience behind them. Crew members should ideally:
- be dedicated and committed over several festivals
- be even-tempered, problem solving and team players
- have a particular skill or ability (organisational, technical, construction, food and beverage, cleaning and consumables, security and supervision etc)
There is an organisational committee comprising of the various "heads of departments" and the during running of the festival we defer to "Camp Mother" (currently Sean Manning).
If you wish to become involved in some aspect of the festival, please drop us a line to
info@nefc.org.nz and tell us a bit about yourself.
